Naming things. Describing things. Defeating things of untold horror. These and many other needs can be met by grabbing stuff from Tabletop Adventures, and they’re celebrating their 11th birthday by giving you 25% off everything they make and sell. You’ve got to the 22nd of July to take advantage.

Take this opportunity to check out our books of fantasy descriptions: the Bits of Darkness (Dungeons, Caverns and Dungeons II); Bits of the Wilderness (Into the Wildwood, Into the Swamp, Into the Open, and Into the Mountains); the city descriptions in Bits of the Boulevard; Shards of the Heart, our book of creative NPCs; and the Bits of Magicka series of unique magical items (Mystic Writings,Rings and Jewels, and Pocket Items).

If something modern is more in your line, try Against the Darkness, a Vatican horror game. Be one of the few with the power to defend an unknowing humanity against legendary terrors! Already have a favorite horror RPG? Take a look at Halls of Horror, for descriptions to use in any “spooky house.”

For Future settings, see our Destinations products – your gateway to the universe, providing flexible, creative, stat-free settings that you can use to bring life and adventure to virtually any game system. You can also get Into the Future: Derelict Starships, to help make any dead spaceship more lively.

Also included is TTA’s line of unique “on the fly” naming products, the Deck O’ Names. Four different sets are available as both card decks and software, to suit different needs. The original Deck O’ Names provides unusual but reasonable names for fantasy or futuristic characters. Anglo Saxon Places can be used to name towns and other land features and the card version includes runes for an authentic touch. The Modern deck gives a wide variety of ethnic names for present-day RPGs, or futuristic ones that use similar naming conventions. Deck O’ Names: Japanese provides realistic names for Japanese fantasy or anime games, plus additional cultural material such as lucky (or unlucky) names.

Tabletop Adventures has resources for GMs or players, and support for nearly any fantasy system as well as modern and science-fiction games. Celebrate our anniversary by buying yourself a present!

Tabletop Adventures: Whatever you play, we’ve got your back.

Let’s round this week out by pointing you to the huge sale on many things sci-fi at DriveThruRPG. This particular weekend sees extra savings for Eclipse Phase and Traveler: The New Era. There’s a lot more, though, so click the banner and explore the depths of space at a deep discount!

(I… I actually typed that, didn’t I?)

Have you ever wanted to play in a game that features a room full of suspects and a Great Detective saying “Before this night is over, I will reveal how one of you committed the murder”? Wicked Lies and Alibis one looks like a fantastic approach to this special genre of detective fiction, one that’s a great deal of fun for the players and GM alike. It’s also on deep-discount as DriveThruRPG’s “Deal of the Day,” so you need to grab it quick.

Players generate characters at the table from a selection of cards, developing a cast of complex characters who all have a motive to kill the victim. They then play through several establishing scenes in the lead-up to a murder. The remainder of the game is played as a series of structured flashback rounds where each player, in turn, assumes a degree of narrative control to frame a flashback which incriminates another character.

The Game Master has a dual role, both as facilitator of scenes, and as the Great Detective, a Non-Player Character summoned to solve the murder, who summarises the evidence revealed by the characters, and reveal the motives of the characters one-by-one before finally disclosing the identity of the murderer.

This game allows you to recreate murder mystery stories in the finest tradition of the golden-age of detective fiction.  It’s also a perfect low-prep, one-shot, filler for that session where you are missing a key player, or when you want to try something different between regular games.

One of the many awesome products in this bundle –

For today only, Creative Mountain Games is experimenting. Three products you can grab for a dollar each, but only today and only with the links below in their message –

I have noticed recently while crunching the numbers that even though sales are good, I have a huge number of folks who pick up the freebies but don’t purchase anything. My thinking on this is that while they might not be against using PDFs, they don’t value them (at least not as highly as others might). I’d like to see if I can change that.

To that end, I have discounted three products that are different enough from one another to give some idea of the range of CMG offerings available. I have set up a $1 coupon for each (not one dollar off, but one dollar for each product) but it is only good for a day, so they need to be used quickly. Hopefully, if you haven’t purchased a CMG product yet, you will take this time to give something a try.

Or, if you simply want to take advantage of the sale to pick up one of the three you do not have (or all of them), then by all means have at it.

I’d also appreciate it if folks spread the word to their gamer friends through messageboards and social media. The links will work for anyone who uses them in this short time frame.
