Player’s Guide to Emerald City

Best Setting (Silver)

My sincerest congratulations to all the winners, and all the nominees. A big night for all of us, and a big night for gaming.

Special thanks to Russ Morrissey, Gabriel Whitehead, and the rest of the folks of the ENnies for making this a great part of our community.

My Belovedest, Carinn, suggested that I should shine one more spotlight on all the ENnie Award Nominees before I fly out to Gen Con tomorrow. She is a very smart, wise woman (despite saddling herself with me).

So, once again, all the cool nominated products on DriveThruRPG; the ceremony announcing the Silver and Gold winners is this coming Friday, August 15th, 8:00pm in Indianapolis at Gen Con.

Possibly one of the most anticipated Savage Settings ever, ETU: East Texas University is where horror-adventure fans (especially those that miss Buffy the Vampire Slayer) have been waiting to enroll.

Study. Party. Save the World.

East Texas University promises prestigious leadership, connected alumnae, the fantastic Southern climate of Pinebox, Texas…and annoying roommates, professors that try to kill you (literally), and things that go bump in the night. Enroll at your own risk.

Owen K.C. Stephen’s exceptional work with Pathfinder rules led to his new role at Paizo, though he’s still releasing excellent third-party material through Rogue Genius Games. The Genius Guide to the Shadow Warrior is one of his latest 1-20 Level Character Class creations.

Not everyone can become a shadow warrior. More than just combatants, shadow warriors are students of styles of fighting they learn from the shadows themselves. Strange and dangerous; a killer with one foot in shadow, who prefers to fight with weapons that are as much about causing pain as they are felling enemies.

The shadow warrior is a new 20-level base class designed for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook (using some material from other hardback rules, especially the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Advanced Player’s Guide). It is a combat-oriented class, with an emphasis on fighting effectively with exotic weapons and drawing on the powers of shadow and darkness.

OK, this one is just too off-beat and clever not to spotlight. Two adventures in one, where you play the past part and the ones tracing their steps later…

Thulian Echoes is two adventures in one! In the first phase, players take the role of pregen characters exploring the dungeon long ago… their actions recorded, so that the players’ actual characters can then follow in the footsteps of the previous characters and gain all the riches and magical secrets to be found!

Since they already will know what’s in the dungeon, it’ll be easy! Right? … right…?

My friends Matthew McFarland and Filamena Young are a part of this recent World of Darkness release, exploring the Fallen Angels and their lives among the living.

When an angel Falls, she defects to the human race, and takes on everything that comes with that choice. All of the joy and heartbreak of humanity are hers, and that includes family.

Heirs to Hell discusses the children of the Unchained, and presents system and setting information for including these demon-blooded in your chronicles. Some demon-blooded are completely unaware of their heritage, and some are very much inheritors of their demonic parents’ power. But the God-Machine has plans for all of them.

Revised and cleaned up a bit, you can now get all four of the original episodes: Wedding PlannersShooting FishFriends in Low Places, and Freedom Flyer, plus the Serenity Crew PDF (the original characters, plus twelve archetypes), all in the single compilation release – Firefly Echoes of War: Thrilling Heroics.
