Monthly Archives: June 2014

Today is a little different, because Spectrum Games has a helluva sale going on that you will want in on, all in celebration of America’s Independence Day weekend coming up.

Each core rulebook can be yours for $6.95! Just click on the special links below to save big! The sale ends on Monday July 6th.

Cartoon Action Hour: Season 3 is a roleplaying game that emulates the exciting action-adventure cartoons of the 1980s.

Capes, Cowls and Villains Foul is a roleplaying game that recreates the way comicbook superhero stories are told in a truly immersive way.

The Big Crime brings the world of film noir to the tabletop in roleplaying game form.

Macabre Tales is a dominoes-based roleplaying game of Lovecraftian horror that stays true to HPL’s fiction at every turn.

Slasher Flick: The Director’s Cut is a roleplaying game that puts players into the shoes of would-be victims trying to avoid a grisly fate.

It’s a dark and terrible thing these folks are working to help overcome. This is worthy even if there weren’t hundreds of dollars of great gaming product in the bundle.

On sale June 22 through June 29, exclusively through DriveThruRPG, this bundle offers over $240 worth of RPG products, fiction and artwork for just $20! You’ll be paying just under 9% of the total retail value, and every cent of profit made from the sale of this bundle goes directly to The Wayne Foundation – a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Wayne Foundation is committed to spreading awareness of CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children) and building a rehabilitation facility for victims DMST (Domestic Minor Sexual Trafficking).

They’re working hard to get child sex workers the help they deserve to live normal lives.

A bit behind, so quite a few to share this time out.

G’zoink

Andy Hobb is at it again with another bizarre and wonderful game based on the strangest world any imagination has ever dreamt of.

Primetime Adventures

As recommended by Wil Wheaton, play the greatest television show that never was. Not an RPG, but a card-driven game that lets you work out plots, character arcs, and all the rest.

Tiny Epic Defenders

The already-hugely successful follow-up to the smash hit, Tiny Epic Kingdoms, and another entry into the fast-growing “micro-game” field.

Feed the Shoggoth! Card Game

No Kickstarter list seems to be complete without at least one Lovecraftian-oriented product, and here’s the latest on you can spend Sanity Points on. “Deliciously evil.”

InSpectres: The Movie

Finally, a movie written by my friend Matt Forbeck, which the redoubtable Darren Orange is tirelessly working to make a reality. “Ghostbusters meets The Office.”

Savage Supers GMs looking for more challenges to put in front of their characters can thank Sneak Attack Press for this one. Meltdown and the AlphaEx Corporation features a sympathetic villain and a truly insidious corporation to contend with. Story arcs, backgrounds, and everything you need to drop this into your campaign and create some compelling superhero action.

Ari Marmell has been at this for a while now, writing amazing stuff for lots of great companies as well as for himself. Here’s his latest collection of amazing fiction, Strange New Words: Tales if Heroism, Hi-jinks, and Horror. If you’ve not yet discovered this talented writer, here’s a great addition to your summer reading list.

Pathfinder fans looking for something really different might want to take a look at the Obsidian Apocalypse setting. A cataclysmic world with a lot going on, it will give your gaming group a wild and exciting (and visually energizing) place to adventure. This latest offering – Races of Obsidian Apocalypse: Flesh and Iron – shows you just what kind of new and out-there directions you can take your PF game.

Another round of cool and geeky stuff that deserves to be shared.

Kitsune: Of Foxes and Fools

Eastern mythology meets tabletop card game fun as these magical foxes teach lessons to fools through trickery, thus earning their tails. A cute and intriguing game for anime and mythology fans (and their kids). The print-and-play version is free.

Die Cast

A live-play group that focuses on games you may not have ever heard of, the Die Cast crew is spreading the love of tabletop gaming and shining light on stuff otherwise left in the shadows cast by bigger, more popular games.

The Great Game (ICONS)

ICONS took the superhero gaming world by storm a while back, but it’s not been as high up on folks lists in recent times. There’s still a lot of amazing stuff out there for it, including this gem you may have missed. It takes your ICONS gaming into “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Green Lantern Corps” territory.

Applied Vectors Artwork Fund

My friend, Ian Liddle of Applied Vectors fame, is looking for some help in upgrading his models package for his art. By helping him out, not only do you do a great thing for a great guy who constantly gives of his time and his assets to help others, but you’ll also wind up with some great free product based on what he creates from your contributions.

Cold Steel Wardens

Does your idea of fun superhero gaming run to the streets and back alleys of the 90s when the Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns, Hellblazer, Sin City ruled the Iron Age?

Here you go.

That’s it for this time around, but there’s tons more coming in all the time.

If you are a publisher, creator, or just a geek (or group of geeks) with something cool to share, don’t forget to drop me a line and let me share it out for you.

Green Ronin’s Freeport setting has been going strong for a long while now, insertable into almost any other fantasy setting as a place for wild, swashbuckling adventure and conspiracy-laden investigations. Now there’s Dark Deeds in Freeport (for Pathfinder), a five-scenario adventure arc that pits the various people and factions against the one thing that could destroy the very foundations of their society.

The Truth.
